Words don’t inject feelings into you.

Words don't inject feelings into you.

If you believe they do it's a simple misunderstanding.

Words don't inject feelings into you. If you believe they do, it's a simple misunderstanding. It's important to remember that words are merely a means of communication, and while they can hold power and influence, they don't have the ability to directly inject emotions into your being.

Emotions are complicated and have many sides. They usually come from different places like personal experiences, beliefs, internal rules, stories created via thought, imagination, perceptions, assumptions, judgments, impressions basically all thoughts..

When someone says something that triggers a certain feeling within you, it's not solely the words themselves that are causing that emotion. It's the interpretation, the story you wrap around the words that you hear and meaning that you assign to those words based on your own unique perspective and experiences. Different people can have different emotional responses to the same set of words because we all have our own filters and ways of perceiving the world.

When we react out of a space of impulse, there's something there once explored, and the misunderstanding of how the emotion was activated. The person is free from being a victim of other people's words.

Take your power back.

If you don't have a button to push nobody can push your button.

Understanding this can be liberating because it means that you have the power to choose how you respond, not react to words. You can consciously choose to not let them dictate your emotions and instead, respond in a way that aligns with your values and beliefs. Bonus, if you look at the situation and circumstance as a means to be curious and empathetic to another person's perspective you actually may learn something. Often not changing your mind, or getting into a debate or defending yourself, but seeing that we all are suffering with our own thoughts.

People act as they think is right. They don't act wrongly on purpose. They simply don't know any better; they don't know what they're doing. Look at them through the lens of compassion and empathy.

What I point to is taking ownership of your emotional well-being and recognizing that you have the ability to decide how much influence words have over you.

It's also worth noting that communication is a two-way street. While words can impact us if we choose to allow them, we also have the power to use our words in a way that uplifts and empowers others. By choosing our words carefully and mindfully, we can create a positive and supportive environment where people feel heard and understood.

You will continue to suffer if you continue to have an emotional reaction to things outside of you (people, places, things, situations, and circumstances). True power is observing things for how they really are.

If you believe other people's words and actions control you, that means everyone else can control you. Wouldn't this mean you're a victim to all things external to you?

So, the next time you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or affected by someone's words, take a step back and remind yourself that words alone don't inject feelings into you. It's your interpretation and response that ultimately shape your emotional experience. Embrace the power of choice and use it to cultivate a more positive and resilient mindset.
